  longest cave in the world\, overtaking Lechuguilla in New Mexico. Alongs
 ide the exploration\, a joint team of scientists from the University of Ak
 ron and the British Geological Survey studied potential connections betwee
 n the caves’ microbiomes\, the morphological modification of passages fo
 llowing their initial formation\, and the rapid degradation of ropes rigge
 d within the Mulu caves. Max will discuss some of the expedition’s highl
 ights\, embarrassing personal failures\, initial scientific results\, futu
 re expedition plans\, and his ongoing PhD research.
